Hoot to show your support

Club chairman Craig Holmes led a party of intrepid birders and a golfer to place three owl boxes in trees around the Hermanus golf course this morning.

The other two birders, both Club members, were Roydon Pybus and Graham Palmer, who was reported to be an absolute star, doing most of the hard grind, assisted by his gardener, Lapken. They were accompanied by Brian Ridley, until recently a Hermanus Golf Club Committee member, who arranged access to the golf course.

They placed the three boxes on the 3rd, the 18th and the 25th, and the Club has just been given permission to place another box in the gardens at Fernkloof Nature Reserve. The boxes were made by the Turners and the Mac Naughts. The Club looks forward to the owls being active in their new luxury accommodation in the months to come.
