The last presentation at a Club monthly meeting this year will be on birding in the north of Namibia, done by Ronnie Hazell on Wednesday 18 November. The meeting will begin at 19:00.
All that remains after that is the Christmas function on Wednesday 9 December.
Visitors are welcome.
The next Club monthly walk wil be at Meerensee on Thursday morning 5 November.
Meerensee, meaning lake (or lagoon) and sea, forms part of the private Middelvlei Estate at the Bot River Lagoon, and falls within an international RAMSAR site for the protection of wetland habitats and water birds, according to the website of a local guest house.
Among the birds that can often be seen there are a number of breeding pairs of the endangered African Oystercatcher, Flamingos, Pelicans, Spoonbills and a number of waders and terns.
The walk will be led by Craig Holmes. Participants meet at the Onrust Trading Post at 07:15 for consolidation of transport. Bring your own refreshments.
